Creating A Hierarchy Rollup

hierarchy.mp4

Steps to creating a hierarchy rollup:
  1. Navigate to the object you are creating the hierarchy rollup for.
  2. Create two new custom fields.
  3. The first custom field is used as the target field of the rollup. This field will hold the aggregated results from the children records.
  4. The second custom field is used as the source field of the rollup. This field will be a formula field that will add or append the information in the desired field with the target field created in step three.
  5. After the two fields have been created you may start creating the rollup. For the first page of the rollup creation you may select the object that will contain the desired information.
  6. After selecting the target object on the first page you will be forwarded to the target field selection page. For this stage of the rollup creation you may select the custom field that we have created previously in step three.
  7. After the target field selection you will be forwarded to another page where the selection of the source object, relationship field, source field, and rollup type may be selected. On this page select the same object you have selected in step five for the source object.
  8. After the source object is selected you may select the relationship field (or the field that relates the children records with the parent records in the hierarchy).
  9. You will now be prompted to select the source field of the rollup. For this step you may select the formula field that we created in step four above.
  10. Now you may select the rollup type, create a filter (if required), and save the record.
